Lincoln College welcomed ITV on campus for an exciting showcase of the latest advancements in our electric vehicle (EV) skills training in partnership with the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI).
As an IMI TechSafe Centre of Excellence, we are proud to offer a range of employer-led qualifications in the automotive sector, including specialised accreditations like Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) calibration and Electric/Hybrid Vehicle qualifications from Levels 1 to 4.
The event underscored the urgent need for skilled EV technicians, with over 21,000 vacancies currently available across the UK. This reflects the rapid evolution of automotive technology and highlights the exceptional career opportunities within this dynamic field.
ITV's visit provided a platform for our students to share their experiences and aspirations. Level 2 student Becca was featured in an ITV interview, where she discussed her educational journey from the Level 1 pathway in Newark to her plans for a Level 3 Apprenticeship. Becca has also been selected to participate in a national campaign for the IMI, an opportunity that will enhance her CV and represent Lincoln College on a broader stage.
We also celebrated Level 4 student Nathan, who successfully completed his 12-week course with Halfords, highlighting our effective employer-led partnership. Nathan's achievement, alongside his classmates from across the nation, demonstrates the high standards of our training programmes.
With a projected need for 113,000 EV technicians in the UK by 2030 and an expected shortfall of 4,000, Lincoln College is dedicated to addressing this skills gap and training highly specialised professionals ready to meet industry demands.
Embark on a rewarding career in automotive technology with Lincoln College and be part of the solution to the UK's growing need for skilled EV technicians. Apply now for September 2024.
