Lincoln College welcomed some of the region’s most talented bricklaying students yesterday as it hosted the 2026 Guild of Bricklayers Regional Competition.
Students from Lincoln and Newark College were joined by competitors from Nottingham College and North Notts College, competing within two categories: junior and senior.
The competition challenged students to demonstrate their technical ability, accuracy and craftsmanship under strict time constraints.
In the senior competition, participants were given six hours to complete a joint finish featuring front and side elevations half round, rear and C recessed joints, contrasted bricks, and internally struck and shaded orange finishes.
Meanwhile, competitors in the junior category had five hours to create a joint finish incorporating a front half round, recessed soldier courses, half round side joints, rear and BoE recessed joints, and diaper internally struck finishes.
Throughout the day, students showcased impressive levels of skill, precision and attention to detail, with judges assessing the quality of workmanship, consistency, and overall presentation of each project.

Jude Martindale from North Notts College Senior Winner
Shantaye Beardsall from Nottingham College Senior Winner
The Guild of Bricklayers competition provides an excellent opportunity for students to test their skills against their peers, gain valuable experience, and demonstrate the high standards of construction training being delivered across the region.
