Lincoln College to Continue Carbon Footprint Reduction With Awarding Of More Funding

Continuing its mission to decarbonise, Lincoln College is has been awarded funding in the latest round of the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme.

Continuing its mission to decarbonise its estate, Lincoln College is pleased to announce that it has been awarded funding in the latest round of the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme.

The scheme is run by the Government’s Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and delivered by Salix. The new funding, aimed at helping the public sector reach net zero goals, stands at around £760,000.

This will be match-funded by Lincoln College Group by around £168,000 and will be used to install air source heat pump technology to Abbey, Friary and Temple buildings.

This replaces the current gas boilers each of these buildings currently has as they are at the end of their natural life. This follows a similar round of funding, which has seen the same works being completed in the College’s Bishops Building and Cathedral Building, which also included the provision of new windows and insulation.

Director of Estates at Lincoln College, Nick Pettit, said: “This latest round of funding really makes a significant difference to our efforts to become a low carbon estate as a college. Our Sustainability Plan is ambitious and is set for us to be Low Carbon or as close to Net Zero as possible by 2036.

“The works that will be carried out on these three buildings will place us at about 25% of that target, so really moves the needle on progress and is a great start for us to make on this ambitious, but vital project.

“We would like to thank our partners on this, Viridis BSL, who have been integral to us being granted this funding as well as the previous funding round which has enabled us to do the work so far.”
