Lincoln College’s Electrical Installations department has received a significant donation thanks to the generosity of Kewtech, a locally based manufacturer of high-quality electrical test equipment.
The company has donated £1,000 worth of advanced testing tools, offering students and apprentices access to industry-standard resources that will directly enhance their learning and practical skills.
Among the new equipment is the Kewtech KT500DL RCD and the Insulation/Continuity Tester, both of which will be invaluable across a range of coursework units.
Learners will now be able to engage more confidently and competently in areas such as Health and Safety, Electrical Design, Inspection and Testing, and Fault Finding – all essential components of their development as future electricians.
This contribution not only supports students’ technical progress but also strengthens the vital relationship between education and local industry. Partnerships like this ensure that learners can develop hands-on skills using the latest equipment, better preparing them for employment and helping them meet the standards expected in a rapidly evolving sector.
Andrew Ballas, Lecturer in Electrical Installations at Lincoln College, said: “A personal thank you to Alan Towler from Kewtech for training our staff on testing SPD Surge Protective Devices and earth leakage current, and for donating some test equipment, which goes a long way to improving our students’ experience in the workshop by using the latest and greatest electrical test equipment.”
Lincoln College staff have also benefited from Kewtech’s commitment to education. As part of the collaboration, Kewtech provided training for lecturers on testing Surge Protective Devices (SPDs) and measuring earth leakage current – further enriching the expertise available to students within the workshop.
