It was a day of sprints, planks, and press ups at Lincoln College as Aspire Elite Netball put their players to the test.

A group of elite netball players from the Scunthorpe area came to test their fitness and performance under the guidance of Personal Training learners from the college.

Level 3 Personal Training learner, Caitlin Webster, said: “We are hoping that this will improve their netball performance and we’re here to make suggestions about a fitness plan and steps to get their performance in games in top condition.”

Players were put through their paces in planking, a health check, medicine ball throws, endurance, and sprint tests among others to ascertain their overall fitness and will be returning to the college in February and May to see if they have been able to improve.

Course Coordinator & Lecturer, Conor Tinsley, said: “We’ve had a lot of fitness data being collected today as well as a lot of one-to-one coaching, so this is a great experience for our students, but it’s also really good for the netball players who will get an idea of their fitness levels and areas in which they could improve. The idea is that we see a bit of progress as they follow an individual but flexible fitness plan, designed by our own student personal trainers”
