Tom Marsden, a former Colonel and Nick Pettit, a former Warrant Officer Class 1, join the branch as President and Chair, respectively.
The new branch chair and president are calling on local people to get involved and join up to support our service people and their families.
Lincoln College has strong links with the Royal British Legion and the pair join Lincoln College Group CEO, Gary Headland, who is County President of the Royal British Legion.
The college also marked the recent Royal British Legion centenary, with a remembrance service attended by staff, the college’s Air & Defence students and special guests and Royal British Legion representatives.
Tom, who is Director of Strategic Growth at Lincoln College, said he feels honoured to take up this new role.
“I look forward to continuing to support retired, regular and reserve service personnel and their families through the work of the Royal British Legion, whilst looking to grow the Branch and encourage new membership,” said Tom.
Nick, Head of Estates Development at Lincoln College, said he has great respect for the Royal British Legion, ad has personal experience of the organisation’s help and dedicated support.
“Our eldest Son, Sam, was blown up in Afghanistan whilst carrying out search duties after an IED attack,” said Nick. “On his return to the UK the first charity to offer support was the RBL, even changing his uniform as he arrived in the same uniform when the explosion took place.”
Tom and Nick say they are now planning to increase membership and are also looking for committee volunteers.
New monthly meetings are being introduced to be held on the third Thursday of every month and the first meeting is being held next week (24 June) at Lincoln College.
“This first meeting will be a meet and greet event with the intention of asking for volunteers to serve on the committee,” said Nick. “After that meeting, we intend to start regular meetings in September. This will allow the new committee to start organising Branch matters.”
Anyone looking to attend the meeting can confirm by email or phone on the following 07939013317 or [email protected]
