Newark business students impress local employers

Students were encouraged to promote themselves to prospective employers including Vodafone, Team Knowhow, Royal Marines, Accountancy, Law, OE Social Enterprise, University of Lincoln and Liz Hobbs Group.

Newark College Business students stepped out of their comfort zone amongst local employers to become work-ready by developing their interpersonal skills in a professional networking environment.

The next step is for students to follow up on the connections they have made which can lead to employment, internships or work experience placements.

Lisa Cullen, Team Leader in Consumer Technical Care at Vodafone said: “The Vodafone team really enjoyed the networking event at Newark College.

“It was a great opportunity for us to meet the students and to raise awareness of the job opportunities that are available both locally and nationally within Vodafone and some of the benefits of working for our Company.

“We were met with fantastic engagement from the students and had some in-depth conversations around CV presentation in addition to having many questions about working for Vodafone.

“It has been a great opportunity for us to work with the college to broaden the career opportunities for the local students.”
