Viona, is currently studying on a Level 3 Hairdressing course at Newark College after returning to education to re-train after a career as a nurse.
Due to the current pandemic and the demand on the NHS in the roll out of the vaccination process, Viona will undertake shifts at Newark Showground to vaccinate people as part of a volunteer team.
Viona says she is passionate about supporting local people and is keen to use her skills where necessary.
“I recognise the work completed in the NHS and thought I could support this. I do not mind where I work as long as I can support with getting these vaccinations completed to as many people as possible in the quickest time we have.
“When I complete my hairdressing course I would like to combine the two roles and offer a hairdressing service within the NHS to those who work extended hours and struggle to book an appointment.”
Penny Taylor, Advanced Curriculum Coach at Newark College, said: “As a college we are community focused and fully support Viona.
“We are extremely proud of Viona and her actions that support this important vaccination roll out. Viona’s behaviour demonstrates our focus at college of empowering our students to be work ready and enabled and liberated to take on these challenges at these difficult times.”
