Four Carpentry & Joinery students stepped up to help a stranger on their way to college last week.
A member of the public accidentally dropped her keys down a drain, whereupon the students checked on her and went to great lengths to retrieve them, taking the cover off and lying on the ground to reach inside.
Later, the students rang the stranger to let her know they had successfully located her keys and returned them to her.
Paul Bailes, Carpentry & Joinery Lecturer at Newark College, said: “A huge well done to four of our learners who showed real selflessness last week.
“Without hesitation, they bought materials themselves and spent over an hour working together to retrieve the keys for her, knowing this would make them late; they responsibly rang ahead to inform their tutor.
“Their kindness and willingness to help a stranger is a wonderful reminder that small acts of compassion can restore our faith in humanity. We’re incredibly proud of the values our learners show both in and outside the classroom.”
We are delighted to hear this positive feedback about our students who represented the college through their kindness. Well done to Harley, Oscar, Josh and Jayden for acting swiftly to help a stranger!
