Pan Ability Champions Back on the Pitch for Saint George’s Cup

Lincoln College Pan Ability Football team compete against other colleges across the East Midlands to qualify for the Saint George’s Cup.

Lincoln College’s Pan Ability Football team travelled to Ravendale Sports Ground to compete against other colleges across the East Midlands, aiming to qualify for the St George’s Cup, where Lincoln College are the defending champions.

On Thursday 19 March, 12 students from a range of disciplines took to the pitch to compete. From Skills for Sport and Construction to Multi Skills and a Supported Intern, the team came together brilliantly, proudly representing the college.

Lincoln College were joined by YPLP, Leicester College, Homefield College, Nottingham College and NWSLC. Overall, Lincoln College performed exceptionally well, winning four of their matches.

Callum, a Level 1 Sport student at Lincoln College, said: “As a team, we’re here to win today. I’m feeling quite confident going into it because I’ve been playing for the team for two years now, so I’m going to take my experience and confidence into the match.”

Ben, a Skills for Sport student at Lincoln College, said: “The motivation around our college team is good.”

Alice Ferrier, Supported Education Lecturer, said: “It’s great to have the new team on the pitch today; they’ve got great energy this year. The students have been training for three hours every week in preparation, working together as a team. We’ve even had an injury and had to adapt the team at the last minute.”

Skills for Catering students were also on site to provide refreshments for all colleges, offering fantastic work experience while producing food under time pressure.
