Real Clients, Real Careers at Lincoln College’s Aura Salon

Two former Hairdressing students from Lincoln College, Freya and Hollie, are now enjoying successful full-time careers at Aura Beauty and Hair Academy, showcasing the powerful impact of hands-on learning and real-world experience. 

Aura, Lincoln College’s city-centre finishing school, offers students a unique opportunity to train in a fully functioning salon environment. Working with real clients, learners develop essential professional skills, confidence, and industry awareness – preparing them for a seamless transition into employment. 

Freya and Hollie, who attended school together and studied side by side at college, are now colleagues working together every day at the salon. Their journey reflects not only their dedication to the craft but also the strength of the training they received. 

Both began their studies on the one-year Level 2 Hairdressing course before progressing to Level 3, where they refined their technical skills and client care expertise. Their talent was recognised early on, and they were selected to join Aura as full-time staff immediately after completing their course. 

Freya, a Stylist and Nail Technician at Aura, said: “The transition from being a student at Lincoln College to then being staff was pretty smooth, to be honest, because throughout my Level 3 I was already doing my clients at Aura, so I learnt salon life and how it works day to day.” 

Now thriving as full-time members of the Aura team, Freya and Hollie built their confidence and familiarity with the fast-paced salon environment before stepping into their roles. By working with paying clients during their training at Lincoln College, they gained invaluable experience in customer service, time management, and professional standards – skills that employers across the industry highly value, presenting a clear pathway from education into employment.
