Skills for Sport student Lou Maddison took part in the ‘Brave the Shave’ fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support on Tuesday 2 May. With a target of £300, Lou surpassed expectations, raising an impressive total of £325.
Lou took on this bold challenge to raise awareness and funds for a vital charity. Her support means that Macmillan can continue to do whatever it takes to provide physical, financial and emotional support to people living with cancer. The fundraiser is also a touching tribute to one family member of Lou’s who has passed away, and another family member who is currently living with cancer.
The funds raised by Lou could pay for a Macmillan support worker for two days, helping people living with cancer receive the support they need.
Debbie Shuck, Curriculum Lead of Supported Education and ESOL, said: “The whole department is incredibly proud of Lou for carrying out such an impactful act for such an important charity.”
Lou Maddison, Lincoln College Skills for Sport student, said: “I was really nervous to shave my hair, but now I have, I’m feeling great - and even better knowing that I’ve smashed the target.”
