Student to brave the shave for Band of Builders

Carpentry and joinery student, Sally, from Lincoln College will be shaving her head to raise funds for the Charity as well as donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust.

Sally said “After following ‘Sadie’s Project’ that the College was already involved with, I wanted to do something too.

“My cousin died of cancer while his wife was expecting their first baby and my auntie passed away from leukaemia so I understand the hardship that surrounds a terminal illness.

“It’s only my hair – and it doesn’t hurt!”

Sally’s tutor, Paul Barnes said: “Sally came to me to tell me that she wanted to do the BOB head shave challenge a couple of weeks ago.

“Since then she’s been like a steam train organising and fundraising.

“I’m super proud of her for her commitment not only to her course but her commitment to helping others.”

Band of Builders was founded in Lincoln by Addam Smith after his friend Keith was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

The Charity has since grown and now aims to help members of the construction industry from across the country.

Addam said: “It’s people like Sally that enable us to buy the equipment and materials we need for projects.

“Without people like her Band of Builders just simply wouldn’t be able to do it.

“Sally, in my eyes, is an inspiration and should be very proud of herself.”

Sally will undergo the big shave on Wednesday 27 June – keep your eyes peeled for live coverage on our social media channels.
