Student wins Industry Collaboration Award

Newark College student, Joe Bocock was Industry Collaboration Award winner after his commitment and hard work was recognised during his time as a full-time IT student at college, in partnership with KNOWHOW.

Newark College have teamed up with KNOWHOW to form a unique collaboration, providing young people with paid work experience with Europe’s leading specialist electrical and telecommunications retailer and services company.

Joe went on to begin an apprenticeship in 2017 in the KNOWHOW Tech Repair department, using this opportunity to develop his career to secure a bright future in the IT industry.

KNOWHOW, which has expanded its operations in Newark, currently employs approximately 4,000 people, believes this collaboration will enable the firm to develop and employ local young talent for many years to come.

Dan Dolby Student Liaison Manager at KNOWHOW said “The reason for our nomination is that Joe has been a shining light all the way through the College Partnership Scheme, he has regularly supported me in getting messages to the group when the staff were off site and also the students saw him as a bit of a father figure whilst at Team Knowhow.

Joe completed his training and work tasks within timescales set and often went over and above for both Team KNOWHOW and his fellow students’.”

Joe was handed his award at a ceremony in November 2017, by Scott Campling Senior Operations Manager at Dixons Carphone.
