Students support homelessness this Christmas with shoebox initiative

Recently, students from the Supported Education Skills for Independence course helped the homeless community by kindly donating essentials. The wrapped shoe boxes include items such as clothes, personal products, hygiene products and sweets.

This has given the students good work experience as it improves their social skills by giving back to the community which is so important as it will make a real difference.

Max, a Supported Education student said: “I found this experience quite brilliant because we get to develop our communication skills and independence for adulthood.”

YCMA Lincolnshire visited Lincoln College on Thursday 11th December to collect donations and speak to the students about what they do for the 177 residents at the Nomad Centre.

Jonathan Hadleigh, a Marketing and Fundraising Coordinator, said: “We really appreciate that you all are doing this. This will help people who have nowhere to go, and who are at risk of homelessness.”
