Lincoln College is passionate about Mental Health in the Workplace. Everyone deserves a mentally friendly workplace where they can thrive.
There are a number of elements to this section of the You Matter offer, including:
Wellness Action Plans (WAPs)
WAPs are a personalised, practical tool we can all use (whether we have a mental health problem or not) to help us identify what keeps us well at work, what causes us to become unwell, and how to address a mental health problem at work should you be experiencing one. It also opens up a dialogue with your manager or supervisor, in order for them to better understand your needs and experiences and ultimately better support your mental health, which in turn leads to greater productivity, better performance and increased job satisfaction.
We all have mental health just as we all have physical health, and the college's WAP, based on the tool devised by Mind has been designed to support us all to manage our mental health, wherever we are on the spectrum.
To access your WAP, login to your Employee Self Service Account, click on My Information > Personal Details > Wellness Action Plan.
Health and Wellbeing - Team Meeting Agenda Item
It is recommended that Health and Wellbeing is an agenda item on every team meeting.
Mindful Employer
We have signed up to MINDFUL EMPLOYER. Established in 2004, MINDFUL EMPLOYER has a long history of empowering employers across the nation to achieve better mental health at work. As a part of Devon Partnership NHS Trust, MINDFUL EMPLOYER and its services are administered by a team of mental health and employment professionals.
Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
The college's EAP service powered by Vivup offers a broad range of features, including support specialists 24/7, 365 days a year, to discuss any emotional, personal, financial, or work-related issues in confidence.
The AoC Mental Health Charter
We have signed up to the AoC Mental Health Charter which supports colleges to address the priority issue of mental health and wellbeing and across their staff and student community and to embed effective practice to ensure mental health and wellbeing is a priority for leaders and governors.
Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA)
A dedicated cohort of MHFAs, like traditional first aiders who provide immediate assistance for physical injuries, MHFAs provide initial support, encouragement, and signposting of a person to identify and access sources of professional help and other support.
