In 2023, there were 219 arrests related to terrorism in Great Britain, marking a 31% increase from the previous year, which saw 167 arrests. This is the first rise in such arrests since 2017 when a significant spike occurred following various terror incidents. The data indicates that 28% of these arrests in 2023 led to charges, primarily for terrorism-related offences.
As concerns about human rights, hate crimes, and democracy continue to grow both nationally and globally, staying informed about the strategies to prevent terrorism and uphold safeguarding and British values has never been more crucial.
