Do you want to ensure you understand what is meant by autism and how it is diagnosed? Do you want to be able to help those with Autism? This course can help you.

Autism is a spectrum condition that affects how a person communicates with others and how they interpret the world around them. There are around 700,000 people in the UK with autism – more than 1 in every 100.

Having a clear understanding of the misconceptions, diagnoses and support surrounding autism are just some of the essential skills needed.

Our Understanding Autism Level 2 course will give you an understanding of autism and the principles of supporting autistic individuals. You’ll study the person-centred approach and the influence that positive communication methods can have and will gain an understanding of how autistic individuals can be supported to live healthy and fulfilled lives.

There are no formal entry requirements but this course is ideal for anyone wishing to pursue a career in the health care sector.

This course is funded through the College’s Adult Education Budget. You must be 19 or older on the first day and duration of the course and not live in a devolved area.

Continued on line assessment throughout the course. You will be expected to complete and submit units on a regular basis.
