There is an emerging global epidemic of diabetes. In the UK alone, 3.2 million people are diagnosed with the disease and an estimated 630,000 people have the condition but don’t know it.
It is believed that deaths from diabetes will rise by more than 50% in the next ten years. Simple lifestyle measures can be effective in preventing or delaying the onset of this chronic, debilitating and often deadly disease.
This course provides an understanding of diabetes including the treatment and management of diabetes. You will develop an understanding of the different types of diabetes and how they can occur as well as developing knowledge on how diabetes is diagnosed and initial care.
This diabetes training also provides an awareness of how type 2 diabetes can be delayed with lifestyle changes and teaches about ongoing care and treatment to control blood sugar levels. It also explores the treatment and management of diabetes which is essential in ensuring the quality of life for those with this condition.

There are no formal entry requirements but this course is ideal for anyone wishing to understand the different types of diabetes.
This course is funded through the College’s Adult Education Budget. You must be 19 or older on the first day and duration of the course and not live in a devolved area.
Assessment & Progression
Continued on line assessment throughout the course. You will be expected to complete and submit units on a regular basis.

These courses are currently being subsidised by the college and are, therefore, free of charge at present UNLESS you fail to complete them, in this case you will be liable to pay a withdrawal fee to cover the cost of materials.
