This course allows you to explore the childcare sectors. It will provide you with an understanding of how childcare settings function and the different roles of professionals.
You will undertake work placements in childcare.

We have high expectations of you as this type of role can sometimes be challenging and demands high standards.
You’ll be expected to organise your workload and develop both practical and study skills throughout the course.
Entry requirements
You’ll need to have four GCSEs at Level Two or above to include Maths and English.
You’ll also need to have two good references (one must be from an employer or a recent school/college report) and be successful at the interview, showing appropriate communication skills for working with children and completing a written assessment.
The college willl also offer support for a course related social action project.
Assessment & Progression
Assessment is a range of assignments, group work, and practical activities.
ProgressionSuccessful completion of this programme could allow you to progress a relevant Level Two childcare or health and social care programme or onto an apprenticeship.

You will require general stationery items and access to the internet; PCs are available on campus.
