If you like the idea of working with adults and young people in the health and social care sectors, this course will provide you with an introduction to basic care, and the professionalism needed to practise in this industry.
It will provide you with the foundation of knowledge and practical skills that you need to progress into this sector, whilst also improving your communication skills and confidence.
Our expectations of you are high because this is a challenging industry that demands high standards.
You’ll be expected to organise your workload and develop both research and study skills throughout the course.

Meeting individual care and support needs
And principles of safe practice
Entry requirements
You’ll need four GCSEs at Grade Two or above to include Maths and English Language.
You’ll also need two good references (one must be from an employer or a recent school/college report).
The college willl also offer support for a course related social action project.
Assessment & Progression
Assessment
You will be assessed using assignments which will be marked internally by your teachers.
ProgressionYou will have the option to progress onto level Two of Health and Social Care by meeting the internal entry criteria (you will gain in a specific offer) but it will focus on the completion of assessments to the deadline, completion of the level One qualification, good levels of behaviour and good levels of attendance.

You’ll need some general stationery items and access to the Internet. PCs are on campus for you to use as needed.
