Are you great at practical tasks? Are you looking to become a very handy and skilled tradesperson? Maybe woodwork was your thing at school or a Level 1 course. If you think this sounds just like you, this course could be for you.
The bench joinery course is designed to help you really develop your skills and knowledge at Level 2. Learning through hands-on experience, you will produce wooden products like window frames, doors, cupboards etc, which are usually made in a workshop.
You’ll be expected to organise your workload and develop both research and study skills throughout the course.
During the course, you’ll study:
Tooling and techniques
Setting out and marking
Manufacturing bench joinery tasks
Entry requirements
You’ll ideally have some previous Carpentry and Joinery knowledge and experience or have completed a Year 1/Level 1 course.
Assessment & Progression
You’ll be assessed on practical and theory elements, through product creation, written, and online tests.
Progression from this course could be employment in the industry, moving onto the Site Carpentry course, or completing the Diploma Level Three.
What You Will Need To Bring
You’ll need appropriate workwear, protective footwear, safety glasses, ear defenders, general stationery, and access to the internet for the theory aspects (PCs are available on campus).
