    1 year (Full-time)

Are you someone who really cares about people? Are you resilient enough to help people through old age, illness, and disability, offering them dignity and respect? If the answer is yes, then a career in care may be for you!

This course has been designed by our industry partners to give 16 to 19 year olds the technical knowledge, values, and experience needed to build hugely rewarding careers in the care sector.

For the first time in the UK students who successfully complete this course will leave with the nationally recognised gold standard care qualification, the Care Certificate. You will also gain a Level Two and/or Level Three Care qualification.

Our values-based recruitment process reflects the industry in selecting intelligent, compassionate, empathetic, and practically-minded young people who are suitable to care for and protect some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.

Industry experts from the Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT), The Priory, LinCA, Walnut Care, Home from Home Care and Wispington House have designed an industry-led curriculum and provide unique levels of on-the-job training in care home settings.

Entry requirements

Entry criteria for this course will be three GCSEs at grade Three or above to include GCSE English Language and Maths.

You’ll also need two good references (one must be from an employer or a recent school/college report).

It is really important for you to have a criminal records check called an enhanced DBS check before you can do your work placements.

So, you need to be aware that if you’ve received a caution, reprimand or conviction it may mean we can’t enrol you on the course and you won’t be able to get a job in the care and childcare sectors.

Assessment & Progression

Assessment: Assessment is a combination of continuous assessment throughout the year on Industry Placement and the production of a Portfolio of Evidence.

Progression: You will have completed extensive industry placements in a variety of care settings and will be guaranteed a job or apprenticeship interview with one of our industry partners.

What You Will Need To Bring

You’ll need general stationery items and access to the internet; PCs are available on campus.
