T Levels are the new, technical study programmes that are designed with employers, to enable young people to gain the necessary skills required for the industry needs.This T Level will give you the opportunity to significantly increase the knowledge and skills required to work within the health and science sector and more specifically, give you the opportunity to specialise in the Adult Nursing pathway in the second year. With our new facilities, you will be able to experience a specialised working environment whilst at college, with some state of the art equipment to support you.

Entry requirements

• 1 GCSE grade 5 in English Language
• 1 GCSE grade 5 in Maths
• 1 GCSE grade 5 in Double Science
• 3 GCSE grade 4 in other subjects.
• A keen interest in both the T Level progression and working within the Health and Science sector.

You’ll also need two good references (one must be from an employer or a recent school/college report). You’ll also need to show good communication skills for working with children at interview and complete a written assessment.


It is really important for you to have a criminal records check called an enhanced DBS check before you can go on your work placement.

So, you need to be aware that if you’ve received a caution, reprimand or conviction it may mean we can’t enrol you on the course and you won’t be able to get a job in the care and childcare sectors.

Study Details

Within the T Level you will study core components as well as occupational specialisms. There are two core components; 1 being the route core component comprising of modules associated with the Health industry and the other being the pathway core component which studies the supporting healthcare component. You should expect to cover some of the following units and work to the suggested outcomes:

Route Core component:

• Working within the health and science sector
• The healthcare sector
• Health, Safety and environmental regulations in the health and science sector
• Health and safety regulations applicable in the healthcare sector
• Managing information and data within the health and science sector
• Managing personal information
• Good scientific and clinical practice
• Providing person centred care
• Health and wellbeing
• Infection prevention and control in health specific settings
• Safeguarding

Pathway core component outcomes:

• Assist with an individual’s overall care and needs to ensure comfort and wellbeing
• Assist registered health professionals with clinical or therapeutic tasks and interventions
• Undertake a range of physiological measurements

The occupational specialism that you will be offered are in Adult Nursing.. The outcomes that you will be expected to study are as follows:

Adult Nursing:

• Assist the adult nursing team with clinical skills
• Support individuals to meet activities of daily living
• Assist with the skin integrity assessments and with the care and treatment of skin conditions

Alongside this, over the two year period you will also complete up to 420 hours of industry placement, and continually develop your English and Maths skills in a contextualised environment for your specific specialism.

Assessment & Progression

The course will be assessed over a two year period. Within the first year you will complete the core component assessment of the Health and Science T Level. Within the second year, you will complete the assessment designated to the specific pathway you have chosen. The assessments will occur in the following way:

Core (year 1 of your programme):
• Two Written Exams
• An employer set project

Pathway (year 2 of your programme)
• A case study assessment
• 2 practical activities assessments: one for the core Supporting healthcare, and one for the occupational specialism
• A professional discussion

What You Will Need To Bring

All we ask is that you have a thorough willingness to want to progress in the field of Health and Science. We expect you to attend the course 100%, and upon arrival at college, be prepared with your stationery, ready to learn. There may also be a small cost to purchase a polo shirt and fleeced jacket for when you go on placement.
