    1 Year (Full-time)

Do you need extra skills and knowledge to get a job? Perhaps you just need some support to find placements and learn about the world of work. This course will help you to do that.

This course is a one-year preparation for students with additional needs to move from College into the workplace. To start with, you’ll spend three days a week in college gaining an understanding of an employer’s expectations, improving your communication skills, building self-confidence and increasing your employability skills and knowledge for the future. You’ll focus on Maths and English at an appropriate level, study for an AIM Award in Employability and accredited work-related courses such as Health and Safety and Food Hygiene.

Our Supported Internship programme works with local employers to give interns experience in the workplace that potentially leads to employment. You will work with our Job Coach to identify relevant work placements based on your career goals. The Job Coach supports you with all aspects of your work placement, supporting you to master the tasks and carry out your role effectively. At first, you will attend placement one day a week, gradually increasing days as your confidence grows. Your time in College will reduce accordingly.

Examples of local employers who have provided placements include:

  • Red Recruitment 24/7

  • Tesco

  • JA Harvey (Bassingham) Ltd.

  • Lincoln College

  • British Heart Foundation

  • Washingborough Hall

  • The Old Bakery

  • Continental Landscapes
