Construction and Civil Engineering Courses - IoT

Our Institute of Technology (IoT) programmes have been designed and created in collaboration with employers, colleges, and universities to develop the talent and skills of our students - enabling them to be work-ready with clear career progression.

The IoT Construction and Civil Engineering programmes are designed to develop a broad understanding and practical experience in the typical tasks and requirements of engineering and construction management professionals and the underpinning academic knowledge.

Through both practical and theoretical sessions, students have the opportunity to develop the hands-on skills that are essential for successful employment within the sector.

Assignments are vocational in nature and students are encouraged to apply their knowledge in the most relevant way to their current employment or aspirational job role. A number of off-site visits are undertaken throughout the course to support the theoretical principles and practices delivered.

Applications can be made on the individual course page. Please find the right course from the list below for more information and how to apply.

Why study a Level 4 or 5 qualification?

Level 4 and 5 qualifications are designed for specialist learning and are suitable for people currently working in, or wishing to enter into, technical and professional jobs, and/or managing and developing others.

A Level 4 and 5 qualification represents a greater understanding and a higher level of learning than that gained from secondary education level. It also acts as the bridge between Level 3 and 6 - helping those to progress to the next stage of education where they may not have had the qualifications previously to do so.

There is an increasing demand from employers for qualifications at this level in key sectors like automotive, engineering, digital, management, business and more - helping to plug the current skills gap in these areas.

Students studying at this level can often study part-time and continue with their current employment.

Enrolling employees on Level 4 and 5 course can also be a great way for employers to upskill their workforce benefiting both the company and their staff.

Companies that train staff at these levels may receive improved productivity, better adherence to quality standards, a workforce that can do a greater variety of work and an ability to respond effectively to change.

HTQs

HTQs offer a targeted and accelerated path to success, enabling students the opportunity to learn technical expertise and practical knowledge that employers are seeking:

  1. HTQs are designed in collaboration with industry leaders, helping students develop the most relevant skillset for their chosen field. Graduate job-ready with the specific technical knowledge and practical experience needed to succeed.

  2. Studies show vocational-graduates command competitive salaries due to their specialised skillset and workplace preparedness. Increase earning power and open doors to exciting career opportunities.

  3. HTQs offer a focused learning experience, allowing students to gain valuable qualifications in a shorter timeframe compared to traditional degrees.

  4. HTQs emphasise hands-on learning and project-based work, allowing students the opportunity to gain the practical experience and problem-solving skills that are crucial for real-world application.

  5. HTQs can be studied full-time or part-time, allowing students to fit their education around their existing commitments. Balance studies with work or personal life.
