The HNC and HND programmes in Construction and Civil Engineering at Lincoln College University Centre has received strong praise following Pearson’s External Examiner visit.
Student feedback commended both the quality of teaching and the practical relevance of course delivery.
Students consistently described the standard of teaching as “good to very good,” highlighting how lecturers effectively bring their own industry experience into the classroom. This integration of real-world examples has been particularly valued, helping students better understand complex theoretical concepts and see their practical application within the construction and civil engineering sectors.
"The quality of teaching was consistently regarded as good to very good standard by the students interviewed," the report noted. Learners also appreciated the support provided throughout their academic journey, stating they felt "well supported and kept informed of their academic progress."
Assessment guidance was another area where students expressed confidence. Tutors were praised for providing clear explanations of assessment instruments and offering further support when tasks were issued.
"We’re proud of the way we bring our professional backgrounds into the classroom," said Ian Lester, Course Coordinator and Lecturer in Construction Management and Civil Engineering. "By linking theory directly to real-life site experience, we aim to make learning more engaging and relevant for our students. It’s rewarding to see that approach being recognised and appreciated."
The positive feedback reflects the programme’s commitment to combining academic rigour with practical, work-based relevance - a balance that continues to prepare students effectively for careers in a demanding and fast-evolving industry.
