Engineering Operative (Boatyard) Apprentice - Burton Waters Marina Ltd

Join Burton Waters Marina as a Boatyard Apprentice. Gain hands-on experience servicing, maintaining and repairing marine engines and vessels, alongside boat valeting and marina operations. You will work towards the Level 2 Engineering Operations Apprenticeship Standard in a varied marine environment.

What Will the Apprentice Be Doing?

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What You’ll Do at Work

Your daily work will span a wide range of tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Antifouling, preparing hulls, applying antifoul coatings and bottom paint.

  • Boat polishing and detailing, compound and polish to a high finish standard.

  • Boat valeting - interior and exterior cleaning to customer-ready standard.

  • Keeping the boatyard, workshops and pontoons clean and tidy.

  • Supporting senior engineers and technicians on complex jobs.

  • Liaising with boat owners and hire customers professionally.

What Training Will the Apprentice Take and What Qualification Will the Apprentice Get at the End?

  • The Apprentice will work towards their Apprenticeship Standard in Level 2 Engineering operations (Manufacturing and Maintenance pathway).

  • The successful candidate will be assigned a dedicated assessor who will provide support and guidance throughout the course.

  • This is a Day Release programme which means you will attend Lincoln college 1 day a week, term time only. This will fall within your contracted working hours.

What is the Expected Career Progression After this Apprenticeship?

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the apprentice will be offered the opportunity to progress into a permanent position within the business, subject to performance and business needs.

Qualifications
GCSE in:

  • English and Maths (grade A*/9 – C/4) - Essential
