Do you have an interest in technology but are a little unsure if you want to study electronic/electrical engineering or a computing subject? Have you considered a career in technology? If so, this is the best fit for you.
This course gives you the underpinning skills for moving to either a career in the computing or electronics engineering industries. After studying this qualification, you move to a level Three qualification or apprenticeship to gain skills in computing or electronics specialisms, before progressing to higher education or employment.
If you would like to work in a technology role but currently don't have a great deal of experience in computing or electronics, the structure of this course means you can experience a variety of subjects before deciding whether you prefer to pursue computing or electronic/electrical engineering at Level Three.
The qualification you will be studying is a TLM Level Two Diploma in IT User Skills and includes opportunities for you to improve GCSE English and Maths Grades as part of your programme of study.
Your course is split into a number of separate units of study, to become proficient in the topics your learning will be split into practical activities, direct delivery, directed study, workshops, individual and group exercises.

Entry requirements
You’ll need four GCSE’s Grade D/Three or above. A GCSE Grade C/Four in English or Maths would be an advantage. BTECs in Science or ICT related subjects will also be considered.
You’ll also be asked to attend an informal interview/welcome day and provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).
Assessment & Progression
Assessment: Assessment is a combination of internally and externally assessed units, portfolio work and assignments.
Progression: Studying a Level Two ICT qualification at Lincoln College can lead to many exciting entry level job opportunities including roles such as Hardware and Software support, and basic software developer. You could also go on to study a Level Three in Electronics, IT or Creative Media here at Lincoln College.
What You Will Need To Bring
You’ll need general stationery equipment and access to the internet as well as a PC at home capable of running Microsoft products (specifically Microsoft Visual Studio); PCs are also available on campus. A scientific calculator would be an advantage.
