This course is designed to support learners that wish to progress on a T Level in Health, but are currently not quite in that position to do so. With our new facilities, you will be able to experience a specialised working environment whilst at college, with some state of the art equipment to support you.

This course will give you the necessary opportunities to improve your GCSE English or Maths grades, help you build greater confidence of your practical ability whilst completing an industrial placement and build on your theoretical knowledge within the Health sector.

Entry requirements

Entry criteria for this course will be three GCSEs at grade Three or above to include GCSE English Language and Maths.

You’ll also need two good references (one must be from an employer or a recent school/college report).

It is really important for you to have a criminal records check called an enhanced DBS check before you can do your work placements.

So, you need to be aware that if you’ve received a caution, reprimand or conviction it may mean we can’t enrol you on the course and you won’t be able to get a job in the care and childcare sectors.

Study Details

Whilst on the Transition programme, you will conduct industry placement work experience whilst also completing an employer set project. The English or Maths aspect of your study will comprise of a generalised session as well as a contextualised session written in accordance to things you will most commonly associate within the Health sector. Throughout the Health knowledge aspect of the course, you will both theoretically and practically study the following units as well as many more:• Duty of Care• Equality and Diversity• Communication• Privacy and Dignity• Fluids and Nutrition• Awareness of Mental Health, Dementia and Learning Difficulty• Basic Life Support• Infection Prevention and Control

Assessment & Progression

During the course you will be assessed in a number of ways. Assessment: You’ll be assessed by written assignments, reflective journals, group work and assessments of practical skills. 

You will also be assessed via examination when conducting the GCSE English or Maths qualifications on the programme.

Upon successful completion of the Transition programme you will be able to progress onto the T Level Health.

What You Will Need To Bring

All we ask is that you have a thorough willingness to want to progress in the field of Health. We expect you to attend the course 100%, and upon arrival at college, be prepared with your stationery, ready to learn. You will also have to be prepared to participate in an industrial work placement where there may be a small cost, to purchase a polo shirt and fleeced jacket.
