We’re thrilled to announce that Camron Astle, a rising star in the trade, has been named Plumber of the Year 2025 by the Rotary Club of Newark! Camron scooped the title along with a £100 Screwfix voucher – a valuable prize for someone just starting their plumbing journey.
20-year-old Camron studied on the Level 2 Plumbing course at Newark College’s campus. Despite coming from a family of electricians and initially being uncertain about his career path, he’s found his footing in plumbing and thriving.
Remarkably, Camron began the year with no prior experience in the trade. However, his dedication and rapid progress have impressed both his peers and tutors.
Gary Weller, Plumbing Lecturer at Newark College, said: “Usually, learners start at Level 1, especially straight from school. But Camron is slightly older and came in with strong results from previous qualifications, so I felt confident moving him straight to Level 2.”
“It’s probably more of an achievement than he realises. Not only did he complete the full Level 2 course, but he also covered a third of the Level 1 content alongside it.
“He’s focused, asks the right questions, and he’s everything that makes you Plumber of the Year. Any employer would be lucky to have him.”
After completion of the Level 2 Plumbing course, typical progression is onto the Level 3 Plumbing Apprenticeship Standard.
