If you desire to be a Plasterer and learn about the tools back ground surfaces, finishing coats and their applications, then this is an ideal course for you.
Plastering Level 1 is a programme that will provide you with the underpinning skills and knowledge to progress you through the levels of skill required by todays plasterers. The course will allow you to explore theoretical and practical topics at an appropriate level preparing you well for the construction industry or progression onto the Level 2 course.
During the course, you will study:
Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction
Principles of Building Construction, Information and Communication
Prepare Background Surfaces and Mix Plastering Materials
Applying Scratch Coats to Internal Backgrounds
Fixing Sheet Materials
Applying Float Coats to Walls
Applying Setting Coats to Walls.
Entry requirements
You will need GCSEs in Mathematics and English minimum Grade 1. You will also be required to attend a Welcome Day for an informal interview where you will meet a member of the team and have the opportunity to discuss the course in more detail.
Assessment & Progression
Assessment is a combination of practical tests and written examinations.
Successful completion of the Level 1 Certificate could lead you onto the NOCN Plaster Skimmer course. Potential careers include working for a plastering company or becoming a self-employed plasterer.
What You Will Need To Bring
You will require workwear and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from our preferred supplier. You will need general stationery equipment and access to the internet; PCs are available on-campus.
